Simple Acts for Refugee Week
Aiite, i know most of the time i'm focussed on scene, shit & stupidity, but right now it's refugee week, and that's something that's pretty damn close to my freakish lil heart. Loads of my friends are from other countries, and even the ones who aren't refugees get blasted all the time with racist crap by stupid arsehole cuntfish.
Sooo... the simple acts campaign is running throughout refugee week. Whoopdedoo. Seriously though, it's cool. Cups of tea are never bad, right? Football rocks. So does smiling at people. Check out the simple acts site and see what you can do. So far, i've done these:
- cook a dish from another country (and no, i didn't just grill my grandma's crockery)
- tell a child a story from another country
- watch a movie about refugees
- do a quiz on refugees (i got all but two right! GET IN!)
- read a book about exile (benjamin zephaniah rocks. so does beverley naidoooooo.)
- find five facts about refugees
- find out who you really are
- visit a refugee week event (free cake!)
- smiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile :)
- learn to say a few things in a new language
- have tea with a refugee
- share a song
- join a big action campaign in support of refugees
- define the word 'refugee'
